New Ford Transit Connect and Ford Transit Models Brimming with Convenience
The New 2015 Ford Transit is here. Have you checked it out yet?
For decades the long beloved Ford Econoline was the go-to for businesses of all sizes and markets to rely on. It was dependable, and customizable, with performance when it was needed. And now, Ford has released a more refined, modern and technologically updated successor. And Quirk Ford Commercial in Quincy MA has plenty.
Say hello to the new Ford Transit. If you’re pondering over a modular and efficient commuter with some serious legroom, you should consider the new Ford Transit lineup. Usually seen driven for business and fleet purposes, these Ford vans are built tough for absolute convenience. There are a few models to consider, depending on the needs of one’s business, but with all the options available, it seems pretty easy to find a new Ford Transit that fits anyone’s needs.
For 2015, we have 4 different models to consider. The 2015 Ford Transit Connect, the 2015 Ford Transit 150, the Ford Transit 250, the Ford Transit 350, and the Ford Transit 350 HD. The 150, 250, 350 and 350HD, are distinguished by their respective curb weight and towing capacity, with dual rear wheels on the 350 HD. The gross vehicle weights are 8,600, 9,000, 9,500 and 9,950 pounds. However, even though the Ford Transit Connect is offered in both commercial and consumer markets, the new Ford Transit Connect is a completely different vehicle than the other Transit models.
For starters, seating up to 7 people, the new 2015 Ford Transit Connect is the smallest of these small vans. Yet still, the Transit Connect has a lot to offer in a relatively compact package. With different wheelbase and body options, the Transit Connect offers four different body and space styles.
- Long-wheelbase van – 128.6 cu. ft. of storage capacity behind the front seats
- Short-wheelbase van – 103.9 cu. ft. of storage capacity behind the front seats
- Long-wheelbase wagon – 104.2 cu. ft. of storage capacity behind the front seats
- Short-wheelbase wagon – 77.1 cu. ft. of storage capacity behind the front seats
The new Connect is front wheel drive and has two engine options, a 2.5-liter I-4 gasoline engine with 169 horsepower and a 1.6-liter I-4 gasoline engine producing 173 horsepower. These fuel saving engines are coupled to a smooth shifting 6 speed automatic transmission. There are also 3 different trim levels, XL, XLT and Titanium, which is available only in the wagon.
Let’s not forget, this new Ford Transit means business. Large folding mirrors and a modern interior are just some of the conveniences that the new Ford Transit Connect offers. Lot’s of storage space as well as multiple 12 volt sockets in both the front and the rear of the vehicle. Back up camera, bluetooth, and navigation are available options as well.
The Ford Transit might be new to the United States, but abroad, it is a well recognized brand name. This is a promising point, as more Americans rely more on ridesharing services and fleet programs.
The Ford Transit 150, Transit 250, and Transit 350 seat up to 15 people, are rear wheel drive and are larger than the Transit Connect and offer different amenities.
The four available engines are:
- 275 horsepower 3.7-liter V-6 (gaseous fuel compatible)
- 275 horsepower 3.7-liter V-6 (gasoline)
- 310 horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 (gasoline)
- 185 horsepower 3.2-liter I-5 (diesel)
And, like the Transit Connect, the commercial Ford Connect offers options when it comes to deciding size requirements:
- 130 in. regular wheelbase
- 148 in. long wheelbase
- 148 in. wheelbase with extended body
There are also three roof heights, high, medium, and low, depending on needs. And with a modular interior, it’s clear that the Ford Transit is perfect for what it is intended for. Filling the spacious cabin to the brim, and darting around the city as conveniently and economically as possible. Businesses will appreciate the on-board telematics system, which allows managers to view live Transit information such as location, speed history, braking habits, and more. This helps businesses protect their investments, and thereby increase the bottom line.
